The Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa: €3,500 a month, 500 permits, and who it is not for

For non-EU remote workers earning at least €3,500 net a month, the Digital Nomad Visa gives a year in Cyprus, renewable twice. EU citizens do not need it. Here are the numbers and the tax caveat.

7 September 2026

Who qualifies
Non-EU/EEA nationals working remotely by telecommunications — either employed by a company registered abroad, or self-employed serving clients abroad.
Income
Stable net monthly income of at least €3,500, after deduction of contributions and taxes.
Duration
First permit one year, renewable for a maximum of two further years.
Family
Spouse or civil partner and minor children get permits for the same period — but without the right to work.
When and where
Within three months of arrival, at the Migration Department's central offices in Nicosia — digital-nomad applications are examined only at headquarters.
Fees and timing
€70 issuance plus €70 Aliens' Registry registration; examination five to seven weeks.

The cap. The scheme is limited to 500 permits (raised from 100 in March 2022). There is no official counter of how many remain — every number circulating online is guesswork.

One more thing to budget: the Digital Nomad Visa requires private health insurance and does not enrol you in GESY — you rely on private cover. The full residency picture is in the visas and residency guide.
