The Cyprus pink slip: what it costs, how long it takes, and the one thing it won't let you do

«Pink slip» is only a nickname. On paper it is a temporary residence permit, Visitor category, issued under Aliens and Immigration Regulation 14 for short or long holidays, touring, or investigating the possibility of residing in the Republic. Using the official term when you deal with the Migration Department saves confusion.

Cost

€70 to issue or renew the permit, plus a one-off €70 for registration in the Aliens' Register — the second fee applies to first registration only.

Validity

The first permit is granted for one year, and it is renewable.

What you get

An Alien Registration Card (ARC) on first registration. Photo, fingerprints and signature are captured at issue and at every renewal — photo only for children under six.

How long it takes: examination usually completes within about four months. Plan for that gap — it also overlaps the banking timeline, since a residence permit is exactly what a bank wants to see as evidence of a link to Cyprus.
